Celebrating the life of

James Thompson Walker, Jr.

February 21, 1950 - February 24, 2026

James Thompson Walker, Jr.

James Thompson Walker Jr., lovingly known as Jimbo” to family and friends and Jimpaw” and "Lito" to his grandchildren, died on February 24th, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and a man whose warmth, humor and love for life touched everyone who knew him.

Born on February 21, 1950, in Bronxville, New York, at Lawrence Hospital, Jim carried with him a strong sense of character, humility, and dedication throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thompson Walker Sr. and Elizabeth Myers Walker.

Jim attended Savannah Country Day School, Benedictine and the University of South Carolina where he was a devoted brother of the Rho Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order.

Jim was known for his sharp mind and his love of a good challenge—especially when it came to crossword puzzles, which he approached with both determination and delight.

A loving father to three sons, Jim was deeply committed to his family. He cherished his wife, Andrea Walker and found his greatest joy in the time they shared together. His life was rooted in love, laughter and connection. He had a gift for bringing people together with his easygoing spirit and quick wit. His sense of humor was as big as his heart and he never missed an opportunity to share a laugh with those around him.

As an avid outdoorsman, Jim found peace and happiness on the water. He inherited a deep passion for boating, fishing and hunting from his father and took great pride in passing those values on to his sons.

Above all, he loved catching and cooking his catch for his family and creating simple but meaningful moments that will be cherished forever.

Jim built a successful career in the building industry and architectural sales. He also had a stint working on the R/V Bluefin research vessel at the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, where he served as a crew member. Regardless of his role, he always approached his work with integrity and dedication.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Andrea Walker; his sons, James Andrew Walker (Sabrina Walker), Christopher McIntosh, and Cheshire McIntosh; his sisters, Caroline Hill and Emily Fernandez; his cherished grandchildren, Nash McIntosh, Rafael Walker, Andrea McIntosh, Isabella Walker, as well as may nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom will forever carry his spirit in their hearts.

Jim will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the family he adored and the many lives he touched. In lieu of flowers to please send contributions to Cancer Research, Wounded Warrior or St. John’s Episcopal Church.

A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Bonaventure Cemetery with Fr. Dunbar officiating.

GUEST BOOK

Dear Andrea and Family, I am heartbroken over Jimbo's passing. Our families have known each other for so long that I cannot recall a time in my life when I did not know Jimbo, Emily, Caroline, Big Jim and Betsy - we and our parents were friends for life! While I am sad that Jimbo has departed his earthly life, I am thankful that his suffering is over and that he is finally at rest. He definitely fought the good fight! With love, David

I am so sorry to hear about Jimbo. I knew him almost all of my life. We played together on the Tigers in the early 1960's. It was always good to see him and see his big smile. He loved his family to the Moon and back. Please accept my sincere condolences. David

Skeety. Also known as Jimbo. This was the name my father, John, gave to the young men who sailed with him on the ocean in the 70s and 80s. Jimbo was one of those young men. Walker and I had some great experiences together. Mostly on the water. He was a damn good sailor. He was on my boat when we won the St. Patrick's Day Regatta. We stayed close for many years and I was honored to become Andrew's godfather. I am sure JT is somewhere near the salt water now. Breathing in the sea breeze. It looks like you're on starboard tack; you've got the right of way. Godspeed dude. Smooth water ahead.
